Introduction to OHHRRN and Keynote Address

The day began with a welcome from Dr. Ivy Lynn Bourgeault,  Scientific Director of OHHRRN. Dr. Bourgeault provided a brief introduction of OHHRRN and the progress made to date in this regard since its launch in 2009. Some of the successes that were described include:

  • Directory of HHR Researchers in Ontario
  • Knowledge Translation Tools
  • Research Partnerships
  • Scaling up these successes and linkages at a national level with the Pan-Canadian Health Human Resources Network

 

 

DSCF1649Suzanne McGurn, Assistant Deputy Minister of Health (ADM), HHR Strategy Division provided the keynote address which spoke to the value of OHHRRN research, especially during a time of fiscal restraint when the need to address HHR issues in creative and cost-effective ways is necessary for system change. She also stressed the importance of patient-centered care in the context of providing the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
